How have you volunteered with GPA (present and past)?

Mr. Blitch joined the American Association of Grant Professionals Foundation board in 2007. He served as the board Chair from 2008-2011 and during which time the Foundation changed its name to the Grant Professionals Foundation (GPF). Mr. Blitch has served on the Fundraising, Scholarship, Every Chapter Challenge and Silent Auction committees. Mr. Blitch remains on the GPF Board and serves as the Vice Chair. He is a member of both the GPA Pioneer Award Committee and GPA Training Committee. Mr. Blitch has also served at the Chapter level as the Georgia Vice President 2008-2010. He is the longest continuously serving member of the Chapter’s Website Committee (2006-present).

Time is valuable. Why did you decide to dedicate some of your time to GPA?

I have volunteered with other organizations in the past, even several professional membership associations, and did not enjoy the experience. Immediately upon getting involved with GPA I felt a sense of belonging. I serve because my time is appreciated by many, my fundraising efforts have made a difference and I respect the difficult work grant professionals do every day. In short, I volunteer my time to GPA because it is my way of supporting a vitally important profession. You should volunteer to – if you want an ethical, credentialed, well connected person in charge of seeking and administering millions upon millions of tax payer and foundation funds…
