The Mid-South Chapter sprang to life in September 2008 with an initial meeting that attracted over 40 curious grant professionals. The Chapter formally received its charter in early 2009, and began meeting regularly at Christian Brothers University.

A dedicated steering committee guided the Chapter in its infancy, planning both the structure and the leadership of the chapter as well as a full schedule of featured speakers for its monthly meetings. In April 2009, the Chapter elected its first officers.
