On March 2, 2004 a group of dynamic grant professionals gathered at the Dayton Metro Library to learn more about forming a local chapter of the American Association of Grant Professionals (AAGP). At that initial meeting, several brave volunteers stepped into uncharted territory to become the first official officers of the Miami Valley chapter of the American Association of Grant Professionals (MVAAGP). Later that year, MVAAGP became the second official chapter in the nation! For two years Butler Consutling president Linda Butler served as the chapter president providing strong leadership for this small, but growing chapter. Since that time, a core of dedicated volunteers have worked faithfully to build a strong, vibrant and effective chapter that is well-respected throughout the community.
Today, the chapter continues to flourish by providing exceptional value for its members. Each month the chapter brings in a diverse group of speakers to equip and empower grant professionals to continue making our community a better place to live and work. Each year, scholarships to the national conference are awarded to aid members in their professional growth and development. These benefits are made possible because of the continued support of the grants community and through our annual grants workshop which serves as the chapter's key fundraiser. In 2008, we are pleased to announce the availability of scholarships to the regional conference and a partial scholarship to help deserving members pay dues.
We are proud of our accomplishments and look forward to positively impacting the communities we serve in the Miami Valley for many years to come.
