About the Chapter

Who are we?

The Chicago-area AAGP Chapter of the American Association of Grant Professionals is a chapter of a national nonprofit membership association that builds and supports an international community of grant professionals committed to serving the greater public good by practicing the highest ethical and professional standards. 

The Chicago-area chapter serves members in the metropolitan Chicago area and surrounding counties.

When?

Grant Professionals in the Chicago area met on May 19, 2006 to sign a charter, forming the Chicago-area chapter of the American Association of Grant Professionals. The Chicago-area chapter holds quarterly meetings and hosted a regional conference in 2008.  For additional information, please contact us at info@aagpil.org or visit www.aagpil.org.

Lunch . . . Funders Panel . . .More
Liz Gombash will spend the morning discussing grants management for federal and non-federal grants. After a buffet lunch, a panel of funders will discuss their foundations. The afternoon will include more grants management with Liz Gombash or Brooke Young, coordinator of grants and supplemental funding for Aurora East School District 131, will present "Garnering Support for the Grants Office."

Liz Gombash has 22 years of grant writing and grant management experience, including four years as a Federal grants specialist for the departments of Education and Health and Human Services. 

Liz has extensive experience individually writing and administering over $42 million in grants awarded by Federal, State, corporate, and private funding sources, including the U.S. Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Florida Humanities Council, and Microsoft. She has developed Valencia’s grants management capacity to keep pace with evolving funder regulations and interpretations as they apply to institutional internal control systems.

She earned her M.Ed. from the University of Central Florida and her B.S. from the University of Maryland, College Park
