CHAPTER CHATTER: BY LORETTO - Monday, August 10, 2009

Here’s a catch up on chapter programs for 2009.

 Meeting 3/25/09

Invited everyone for an open forum on how they were coping with the new economic realities of 2009. We had some great discussions on strategies for adjusting for increased needs for services; how and who is using stimulus funds; what the remainder of 2009 is shaping up to be; and an exchange of information to find out more on federal/state/local government funding.

Hosted by Judi Toni at the offices of Bread for the World

 Meeting 5/20/09

Our March meeting led to such a lively discussion that we had an additional luncheon meeting to continue our thoughts on what was shaping our worlds as grant professionals.

Hosted by Loretto McNally at the offices of Independent Sector.

 Meeting 6/24/09

Roundtable discussion with 2 wonderful facilitators, Teri Blandon, Director, Foundation & Government Development, WETA TV/FM and Beth Ann Fromm, Director of Grants, Providence Health Foundation. Teri will be a presenter at the AAGP conference in November while Beth and Jesse Buggs both just participated in the AHP Midatlantic Region Conference in Richmond. Our discussion topic – Grant Professionals’ Challenges and Opportunities in These Troubled Economic Times.

Hosted by Roseann Abdu at the offices of Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital

Future meetings are scheduled for September 16 and December 9.
