Chartered in March, 2004, the Alabama chapter was the first ever local chapter in AAGP. Joani Sarkiss, former member and Alabama state rep, was instrumental in getting it started and continues to advocate for the local chapters across the country. Since then, the individuals who have served as chapter president are the following:
- 2004 - Jeffrey Bastuscheck
- 2005 - Elizabeth Thomasson
- 2006 - Dwight Downs
- 2007 - John Tidwell
- 2008 - John Tidwell
- 2009 - Brett Evans
- 2010 - Herb Patterson
The 2010 Chapter Officers are:
- Herb Patterson, President
- Tim Wolfe, Vice President
- Bennet Broner, Secretary-Treasurer.
